This course will introduce readers to these benefits, starting with an overview of the origins and characteristics of mineral wool and the composition of mineral wool ceiling tiles. The student will learn how noise can negatively impact building occupants, and how ceilings with improved sound absorption can contribute to interior environments which promote healing, learning, and productivity. This course includes a discussion of the special requirements of healthcare settings, and how mineral wool ceiling tiles contribute n a number of ways to promoting an optimal environment that is both sanitary and quiet. This course will also explain how mineral wool contributes to life safety in the event of a fire, and how ceiling tiles made with this material achieve superior fire ratings. Finally, this student will also learn how mineral wool ceiling tiles can be used to promote daylighting and reduce reliance on artificial lighting. The course will conclude with a number of example which illustrate the range of styles and applications enabled by this versatile product.
