Mastering the Fundamentals: Mitigation, Prevention, and Response to Violence
Learning Objectives:
- Learn the four basic foundational principles of school safety and security.
- Recognize the importance of school security directors.
- Explore what a basic framework of school security looks like.
- Learn why prevention and collaboration with public safety partners can both prevent and enhance response to crisis situations.

Training may qualify for related continuing education for recertification activity through NICET. Students may claim one (1) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) point per hour of instruction towards their NICET recertification requirement for any sessions that expand their knowledge of the subject matter pertaining to the certifications they hold.
Participants completing this course may be eligible to receive Continuing Professional Education credit or CPEs toward ASIS re-certification.
Organizations face a plethora of threats, including altercations, overdoses, robberies, intruders, angry clientele, and active shooters. Mastering the fundamentals of safety is key to reducing all forms of violence and disruption, not only in the K-12 space but in other industries as well.
In this webinar, Jason Stoddard, Director of School Safety and Security at Charles County Public Schools, will discuss how embracing an all-hazard approach with redundant layers of security strategies will not only reduce the threat of lower-level disorder, but it will reduce the threat of terminal events such as active assailant attacks.
