Learning Objectives:

  1. Define modern EIFS products and features which include an air/water-resistive barrier, drainage plane, continuous insulation, and many new finishes.
  2. Describe uses and benefits of modern EIFS, known as EIFS with drainage.
  3. Explore how EIFS with drainage are typically single-source solutions for a building’s exterior wall cladding and how they meet model building codes and industry standards.
  4. Examine important considerations and details of EIFS with drainage used in high-performance building enclosures.

Durable, high-performance building enclosures provide protection against the elements, thermal efficiency, control the flow of air and vapor, and protect the health and well-being of occupants. This course will explore many performance and benefits of modern EIFS with drainage systems, which are used on all types of construction and as part of high-performance building enclosures. It will cover how the systems have evolved from the first EIFS barrier system into a single-source, exterior wall cladding solution that offers continuous insulation (CI), an air/water-resistive barrier, cost effectiveness, adaptability to a wide range of conditions, and unparalleled design flexibility.

Speaker

Bill Egan has more than 40 years of construction experience that includes product/system design, standards development, testing, building code compliance, construction defect investigations and litigation. He is Principal of the Bill Egan Group which provides consulting services related to building enclosures, structures, and products. Bill previously held key technical roles with construction product manufacturers of EIFS, stucco, air/water resistive barriers and architectural coating systems.

He has participated in the design, development, and support of many new construction products and systems from concept through commercialization. This includes determining performance, testing, development of standards, marketing, and technical collateral, and securing building code compliance.

Bill holds a BS, Civil Engineering, more than 25 patents, authored numerous articles and participates in various industry associations. He is the ASTM E6.58 Subcommittee Chairman for Performance of EIFS and C11 Task Group Chairman for Non-Metallic Lath. Bill also serves on ASTM committees related to stucco and air/water-resistive barriers.

EIMA Founded in 1981, the EIFS Industry Members Association is the North American trade association devoted to the promotional, advocacy, technical and educational aspects of the EIFS industry. EIMA is comprised of leading manufacturers, suppliers, distributors applicators, and architects.
