Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss the advantages of an open floor plan in the design of spaces that are flexible and adaptive.
  2. Explain the importance of acoustical design in learning environments.
  3. List criteria for both the selection of building materials and structural layout to optimize a building’s efficiency and sustainability.
  4. Summarize substrate and coating options for holistic floor and ceiling system designs.
