Multifamily buildings routinely require finished surfaces that are visually appealing but also durable, sustainable, and easy to clean. Design professionals have a range of products to choose from, but few are as versatile as ceramic tile. Whether used in large areas or smaller spaces, ceramic tile and related products offer an appealing, long lasting, economical solution to many multifamily finish requirements. This course looks at three of the most common places to successfully incorporate this exceptional material. First, interior spaces in general are explored, followed by a focus on kitchens and bathrooms. Then, exterior spaces are looked at for the growing number of ways that ceramic tile is used for common areas and private outdoor spaces in multifamily projects. Finally, a case study project is provided to provide an example of how the design and performance principles discussed all come together in a coordinated, successful way.
