Heat pump technology is the most innovative, efficient solution to meet the ever challenging goals of reducing energy usage and emissions. This educational presentation provides an introduction to the design of heat pump water heaters and their applications. The presentation will review the basics of heat pump technology, how the various types of HPWHs are designed and provide insight into the pertinent details of applications and sizing. Participants will learn the key factors to consider when designing a domestic hot water system utilizing heat pump water heaters.

Isaac Wilson has been working in water heating technology for 2 years with A.O. Smith. He is currently the National Specialty Commercial Manager and manages the Sales Application Engineering Team. He has taught numerous educational courses over his career and brings a wealth of knowledge in both product/system design and application engineering to this session. He received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisville in May 2012.
